With the Artificial Intelligence Revolution accelerating in the fullscale post-pandemic era, the global trend of ChatGPT has made modern society and churches face tremendous challenges. Although research on ChatGPT are being attempted by a small number of scholars, studies of ChatGPT based on a Christian perspective are still very scarce. Particularly, there is little research on ChatGPT from the perspective of practical theology and homiletical evaluation of ChatGPT sermons. Therefore, one needs to suggest a practical direction and alternative based on academic research by practical theologians and homileticians. With this in mind, the first chapter objectively discusses the main flow and substantive concept of ChatGPT. The second chapter is to consider the key evaluations and prospects of general scholars on ChatGPT. The third chapter is to briefly state practical theological direction and statistical analysis of ChatGPT. The fourth chapter deals with the critique on ChatGPT sermons in light of homiletical theology. The last chapter presents a homiletic analysis and insight on the actual sermon steps and sermons through conversation with ChatGPT. The central thesis of this study is to suggest a practical theological direction and homiletical analysis based on an objective perception of ChatGPT and scholars’ evaluation so that modern day Korean churches and preachers might be able to respond to the challenges of ChatGPT.
