Based on the question, “What kind of worship helps people encounter God?,” which Constance Cherry suggueted for reorienting worship, this paper argues that worship should be liturgy while seeing the nature and purpose of worship with the concept of media. To this end, this paper deals with the followings. First, defining worship as meetihg of God with his people, this paper discusses the nature of worship, which requires various media mediating between God and man, because humman cannot meet God directly. Then, this paper emphasizes that one of the primary purposes of worship is to form the church, the community of worshipers, into God’s chosen medium. And it insists that the mission of Christians, members of the church, is to practice God’s way of life in the world as media mediating God and the world. Then how can worship help Christians practice the way of life as God’s chose media in the world? This paper proposes that it can be helpful when worship becomes liturgy, namely the place of training and practicing such a lifestyle.
